Clarity uses a small set of terms on purpose.

The definitions are short so they can be revised as the framework develops.

Action Trigger

A threshold crossing or event that causes an immediate response to protect the system.

Adaptation

The act of changing beliefs, commitments, or behavior in response to reality.

Assumption

Something that must remain true for a claim to hold.

Burden Externalization

When the cost of uncertainty or error is pushed onto others who do not own the claim.

Claim

A belief stated clearly enough to inspect, support, challenge, or revise.

Commitment

The posture used when action depends on a claim being relied on as true enough.

Confidence Debt

The gap created when confidence exceeds what the available evidence supports.

Correctability

How feasible it is to repair course after a belief turns out to be wrong.

Discovery

The posture used when a claim is still being explored or formed.

Evidence

What currently supports a claim.

Governance Debt

Accumulated confusion about who can decide, who must review, and who owns consequences.

Posture

The mode of engagement a team should take toward a claim at a given time.

Reassessment

The posture used when a previously accepted claim needs to be checked again.

Monitoring Signal

A measurable or observable condition used to detect whether reality may be changing.

Reassessment Trigger

A threshold crossing or event that causes a claim, assumption, belief, commitment, or trigger design to be reviewed.

Resolution Debt

Unresolved ambiguity that has been carried forward into action instead of clarified.

Shadow Assumption

An assumption that is materially shaping action without being named.

Threshold

The point at which a monitoring signal becomes meaningful enough to require attention.

Trigger

A threshold crossing or event that requires action, reassessment, or both.

Trigger Claim

The belief that a particular signal or threshold meaningfully indicates a need for response or reassessment.

Trigger Reassessment

The process of reviewing whether a trigger, threshold, or monitoring signal still represents meaningful risk or change.
